gregperry : Reality doesn’t exist
Well, at least not one we can agree on.
I have a tie my wife insists is black when I know
for a fact it’s dark green. I think I’m fantastic company but my one friend, now living in Canada, disagrees. Liverpool are the greatest team on earth and I know you’ll agree with this one, unless you support a different team.
Perception is reality. This is why quality is often told to us not sold to us.
“If anyone actually found a way to distinguish between perception and reality, the entire marketing industry would crumble into the sea overnight.”
Maxx Barry in Syrup
Over the last year, more than ever in my life, I’ve challenged my perceptions. The biggest one is that more stuff and better stuff will make me happier. I’ve found the opposite is true. Now I realise that less is more. I have everything- absolutely everything, and I had it years ago. The only thing that happened is I realised I had it.
This might not be reality but at least my perception of reality makes me happy. If you’re going to get your perception wrong, I reckon it’s best to get it wrong this way round.
